Shrimp Boil

This is so ridiculously delicious and surprisingly easy - if Iā€™m not careful I can eat this all by myself. Shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes cooked together with lots of spices and served with a spiced garlic butter.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds shrimp

  • 4 ears of corn, husked and cut into 4 pieces each

  • 1 pound andouille sausage, sliced

  • 8 small red potatoes

  • 1 onion, quartered

  • 1 head of garlic, cut in half

  • 4 sprigs of thyme

  • 1 lemon, quartered

  • 3 cans of beer

  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped

Spice mixture (or 1/4 cup Old Bay):

  • 2 tablespoons celery salt

  • 2 teaspoons paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

    Garlic butter

  • 1 stick butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, grated

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne

Instructions

  1. Add 3 quarts of water and beer to a large stock pot. Add thyme, spice mixture, head of garlic, onion and potatoes. Bring to a boil.

  2. Cook the potatoes for about 10 minutes. Add the corn and sausage and cook for about 7 minutes. Add the shrimp for a couple minutes until just cooked through.

  3. While the shrimp boil cooks melt butter with grated garlic, worcestershire and cayenne.

  4. Drain and transfer the shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage to a serving platter top top with parsley and serve with melted butter and lemons.
